Why The Roig?

Upper School

Grades 6-8

At The Roig Academy, our private middle school comprises students from grades 6-8 who are preparing to make the transition into high school.  Throughout the year, students continue to explore while using 21st-century skills that are fundamental in the learning process. Our students collaborate, problem-solve, communicate, and create throughout this final year. The PYP exhibition is a way to celebrate our students as they prepare to transition into the next phase of their academic journey.

For many students, the transition from lower school to middle school can often be a difficult period of time. The developing brain, navigating social relationships and increased academic demands can lead to lower levels of school engagement and increased disengagement from parents and teachers. At The Roig Academy, we recognize these new challenges and work with students to support their social, emotional, and academic growth. Students experience an engaging learning environment rich with opportunities to practice skills that are central to transition into healthy and well balanced young adults.

The Roig Academy Approach

At The Roig Academy, our staff and students foster healthy relationships that are crucial in building positive learning experiences. We recognize that our middle school students have a voice, and are capable of being extraordinary young adults. Our learning centers around best practices, and most current pedagogy in education. Research tells us that upper school students require opportunities to collaborate, problem-solve, and think critically about the world around them while exploring healthy boundaries and positive peer experiences. Our school allows students to learn more about who they are, and how they best learn.

Like our lower school, students in the upper school are encouraged to integrate technology into their daily learning, and further acquire skills related to digital citizenship. Students in our middle school have their own Chromebooks for the purpose of researching, reporting, and documenting their learning. We incorporate various approaches to exploration within our daily lessons. Our learning draws from current best practices in education, student strengths, and driven by their interests. At The Roig Academy, we make it our mission for our middle school students to leave our school having mastered vital skills needed for further social, emotional, and academic success.

Our students are absent of any diagnoses that identify them as requiring further emotional or behavioral support, including autism.

Middle School Student Life at Roig Academy

Student Life

While academics are the main priority at The Roig Academy, there are plenty of opportunities for students to have fun, host visitors, help others, foster a sense of community, and build camaraderie. On a daily basis, students can take advantage of the many wonderful areas our campus has to offer such as the playground, putting green, bocce ball courts, and hanging out underneath the school pergola. They also participate in many loved school traditions such as The School Olympics, Parent’s Day, and many more. All of which have become affectionately known as #OnlyAtRoigMoments.

“Jenni explained that we had two years to get Kiara to where she needed to be in order to apply to high schools. I had never seen my daughter so happy about schoolwork. Today she is a student at Palmer Trinity, and so excited to be in high school.”

Once students understand they can, brilliant things happen.

The Roig Academy is not your average school. It is superior. It is a one on one experience catered to the needs of your child and family. Everyone is taken into consideration as a person not a number in the system. Our experience was one of a kind. My son was diagnosed with a reading and processing disorder and the Roig Family stepped up alongside our family to walk hand and hand through the journey. They made us feel confident that we were not alone. They had not only the tools and the staff to help him but the experience. That was priceless! They use methods of teaching that are proven and new practices are always being evaluated to ensure staying ahead of the curve. Our family has now moved schools as my son graduated and he has been prepared to do so. I recommend The Roig Academy as an option for your child if you are looking for a school.

This school was an absolute blessing. My son’s confidence returned and his gifts & talents soared. After the excellent training that he received from the teachers at Roig, he was able to excel. Jenni and Gus Roig pour their lives and talents into their students. Their approach to learning/teaching should be copied by every school, then every child could succeed & soar!

Our daughter had a wonderful experience at Roig Academy and we have the director, Jenni Roig, and teachers to thank for their support in her academic and personal development. Through Roig’s individual attention and tailored instruction, low student to teacher ratio, and director’s commitment and involvement in the success of each child, our daughter was able to close her academic gaps and practice learning strategies. The director and teachers are always accessible and partner with the child’s family in developing the “whole” (academic, social, emotional) student. More than anything else, our daughter leaves Roig Academy with the self-confidence to face challenges and succeed. Highly recommend.
