About The Roig

Our Mission

We create a foundation for success.

Our mission is to empower students with language-based learning disabilities, including dyslexia, by providing a comprehensive, evidence-based education rooted in both structured literacy and the IB Primary Years Programme framework. Through explicit, systematic literacy instruction and inquiry-based, transdisciplinary learning, we build upon each student’s unique strengths and cultivate the attributes of the IB Learner Profile, nurturing students who are reflective, courageous, curious, and caring. We foster student agency and self-efficacy, encouraging learners to take ownership of their education and transform into active, internationally minded contributors to their local and global communities. Guided by a commitment to the whole child, we support student wellness, personal growth, and a lifelong love of learning.

The Roig Approach in Practice.

The Roig approach is not a philosophy we describe. It is a practice we have built and refined over time.

Our longstanding integration of structured literacy, grounded in the Science of Reading, with the IB Primary Years Programme develops strong academic skills while also fostering critical thinking, reflection, and student agency. Small classes, individualized academic support, responsive progress monitoring, and a close understanding of each learner are central to that work.

Structured literacy builds the foundational decoding, spelling, and language skills students need to read and write with accuracy and confidence. IB gives students meaningful opportunities to apply those skills through inquiry, discussion, research, and communication.

At Roig, these approaches are implemented together for students with language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia. In our most recent accreditation review, Cognia recognized this longstanding integration, along with our personalized instructional model and measurable student growth, as strengths of the school.

Global Curriculum, Specialized Approach: The IB Choice for Students with Dyslexia

The Roig Academy is committed to implementing the International Baccalaureate Programme. The IB strives to develop students will build a better world through intercultural understanding and respect. It is different from other frameworks because it encourages students to think critically and challenge assumptions while considering both local and global contexts. In short, it prepares students at public or private IB schools to think beyond the context of the classroom, truly giving learners the tools they need to succeed outside of an educational setting.

Cognia Accredited

Cognia Accreditation

Cognia is the largest community of education professionals in the world. They are a non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. While their expertise is grounded in more than a hundred years of work in school accreditation, Cognia is far from a typical accrediting agency. As missions and visions aligned with those of The Roig Academy, it is fitting for our Miami private school to belong to such a prestigious organization as Cognia.
