Private School For ADHD
Educators at The Roig Academy have a thorough understanding of the learning differences that each of its students may be diagnosed with.
What is Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children?
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common condition affecting 11 percent of school-age children (Visser, et al., 2014). ADHD is characterized by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity and often causes individuals with ADHD to have difficulties in a traditional classroom setting.
Individuals with ADHD can be very successful in life. However, without identification and proper intervention, ADHD may have serious consequences, including school failure, family stress, and disruption, depression, problems with relationships. Early identification and intervention through various programs, including private schools for ADHD if your child’s school is not sufficiently catering to his or her needs, is the key to success.
ADHD symptoms arise in early childhood. According to the DSM-5, several symptoms are required to be present before the age of 12. Many parents report excessive motor activity during the toddler years, but ADHD symptoms can be hard to distinguish from the impulsivity, inattentiveness and active behavior that is typical for kids under the age of four. At our private school for ADHD in Miami, we work with children of all ages who have been diagnosed with ADHD or other learning differences.
